Professional etiquette Please remember the school rule about giving a minimum of half a term’s notice (6 weeks) if you no longer want a place in a class. Pupils wishing to take additional dance classes must discuss this with both parties concerned to avoid a conflict of interest, or putting your teacher(s) in a difficult situation with our professional teaching bodies.
Contacting me Monday, Wednesday & Thursday mornings are the most likely times for you to be able to speak to me on the telephone in the office, as other mornings and all afternoons and evenings are teaching times. Email is ideal ([email protected]) and written/answer phone communications are also easy to deal with. Please use my mobile number for texts or urgent calls during teaching hours but not for routine or non-urgent matters as this may disturb a class. Thank you! Stephanie Squire (Principal)
Your Contact details Please update me with any changes in your email or mobile phone contact details. It is your responsibility to ensure I have the right details to make contact in an emergency.
The RAD launched a new curriculum for older students in 2018, Discovering Repertoire. Read more about it by following this link:
Silver Swans My Wednesday morning Silver Swans class for older learners has a very enthusiastic group of participants. This class is aimed at the over 55s as a rough guideline. Due popular to demand, I will be starting a new adult class in September on Thursdays 2.45-3.45pm at the Mount Pleasant Centre.
I was honoured and delighted to hear this August that I have been awarded Life Membership of the Royal Academy of Dance in recognition of ongoing commitment and deication to the RAD.
Four dedicated students took their Grade 8 exam in the summer session and passed with Merit. Two of them managed to do this while taking GCSEs at the same time! It is an example of how the busiest people, tend to achieve the most. Passing the RAD higher grades brings UCAS points for University entrance in recognition of the discipline and the mental and physical skills involved. Good luck to all pupils starting new schools and GCSE and A level courses - keep dancing!
The Wiltshire Music Centre in BoA regularly streams live ballet performances from the Royal Ballet in Covent Garden. This is a brilliant and very economical way for pupils to see ballets and also behind the scenes interviews, background information etc. In November there is a Triple Bill of short ballets which would be of more interest to older students (senior school age) on Wednesday 6th November at 7.15pm https://www.wiltshiremusic.org.uk/whats-on/royal-ballet-mixed-triple-bill-live-0 In December there is the lovely and child-friendly, Coppelia, on Saturday 14th at 7pm https://www.wiltshiremusic.org.uk/whats-on/royal-ballet-coppelia-live and the famous Nutcracker on Wednesday 18th at 7.15pm https://www.wiltshiremusic.org.uk/whats-on/royal-ballet-nutcracker-live-0 and a relaxed screening of The Nutcracker on Saturday 21st at 2pm https://www.wiltshiremusic.org.uk/whats-on/royal-ballet-nutcracker-live-relaxed-screening
